The Wielsch Guesthouse was renovated by the Wielsch family in the 1990s. Just like this house, many buildings in the old town were renovated over a period of 20 years, so today we can be happy to live in such a well-preserved old town. A stroll through the city’s streets invites you to wander and explore.

Surroundings

Step out the front door, and you’ll find yourself right in the heart of Görlitz’s famous Old Town. It’s just a 10-minute walk to the Old Town Bridge, which leads to Poland and the Polish part of Görlitz—Zgorzelec. A stroll there is highly recommended, as it offers an enchanting view of the Old Town. In addition to the countless vantage points, the changing times of day and seasons constantly reveal new facets of the city.

If you’re looking for shopping options, for example, you’ll find several within a 10-minute walk in the city center along Berliner Straße. There are also bars and restaurants around the Untermarkt. It’s just a 2-minute walk to get there. If you’re looking for more detailed information about the city or want to plan an outing, visit the Tourist Information Office. It’s just a 2-minute walk from the guesthouse.

Events

You’ll stroll through the settings of famous movies like “The Reader” or “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, and with a little luck, you might catch a glimpse of a new film shoot. Thousands of people come to Görlitz every year to experience the city during festivals such as the “Via Thea” street theater festival or the Old Town Festival.
Take the time to go on a guided tour to experience the city’s unique character. And if you have a little more time, why not take the opportunity to climb the towers of Görlitz? It’s not without reason that Görlitz is also known as the “City of Towers.”
